20th March Mediabrands Australia launched it’s inaugural Personal Development Day in Sydney. It was a day for our entire team to remove themselves from their day to day tasks and take a step back and focus inwards on themselves with the end goal of the day to create SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time Bound) goals that will drive them for the next 12 months. This is one of the many steps that we are taking as a business to put our #Peoplefirst.

In addition to crafting their Personal Development Plan (PDP) for the year they also have the option to participate in health and wellness courses (eg. Guilt Free Snacking, Eating for Energy & Meditation). I’ve encouraged my whole team to embrace the day as I’ve seen great success in my career and life when I put pen to paper and commit to my goals.

This year, in addition to setting my own PDP for the year ahead at Reprise, I also participated in a Personal Development course called “Discover Your Inner Genius” presented by @Yu Dan Shi

Yu Dan’s program focuses on recognising what your true strengths are, which I had to be corrected are not just things that you are good at but things that you are good at and you like to do and give you energy.

Yu Dan had a fantastic way of blending methodology, statistics and sheer passion for strength based training. This methodology is not only something that you can apply to your working career it is a framework that you can apply to your entire life.

Put pen to paper or fingers on keys, whatever you prefer, and commit to yourself to achieve more than you thought possible in 2017.

Last year I set a goal to complete my 2nd Half Marathon. This is me crossing the finishing line in Canberra!
